In eCommerce, great products and competitive pricing are not enough – your store’s design and user experience (UX) can make or break sales. That’s why thousands of merchants choose Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) for its unmatched flexibility and growing list of UX-enhancing features.

Let’s dive into the top 10 trending Magento 2 features that are transforming online stores and giving shoppers the seamless, engaging experience they expect.

Progressive Web App (PWA) Studio

Today’s shoppers expect lightning-fast, app-like experiences on mobile. Magento’s PWA Studio helps you build responsive, app-like storefronts that load fast, work offline, and boost mobile conversions – without needing a separate native app.

Drag-and-Drop Page Builder

Magento 2’s Visual Page Builder lets non-technical teams create stunning landing pages, banners, and custom layouts without writing code. Save time, reduce dev costs, and update content faster to stay relevant.

AI-Powered Product Recommendations

Adobe Sensei integration brings AI-driven product recommendations to Magento 2. Show customers “Related Products”, “Frequently Bought Together”, or “Customers Also Viewed” – all personalized to increase AOV and keep shoppers browsing longer.

Forget slow default search. Magento 2’s Live Search (powered by Adobe Sensei) offers lightning-fast, AI-driven autocomplete suggestions, relevant filters, and smart sorting – helping customers find what they need instantly.

Headless & API-First Architecture

Modern UX demands flexibility. Magento 2’s robust APIs make it easy to build headless frontends using Next.js, React, or Vue.js – giving you total design freedom and blazing performance.

Responsive & Customizable Themes any device.

Magento’s marketplace offers hundreds of responsive themes optimized for B2C and B2B. Pair these with custom CSS or page builder tweaks to create a modern, on-brand look for any device.

Advanced Mega Menu

Large stores with deep catalogs benefit from a clean, easy-to-navigate menu. With advanced mega menu extensions, you can display categories, subcategories, featured products, and promos – improving UX for shoppers with fewer clicks.

One-Page Checkout

Reduce cart abandonment with a streamlined checkout. Magento 2’s one-page checkout and guest checkout options make purchasing quick, frictionless, and mobile-friendly.

Customer Account Dashboard

A better UX isn’t just for first-time visitors. Magento 2 lets you create a rich My Account area where shoppers can track orders, reorder with one click, manage quotes (for B2B), and access wishlists – boosting loyalty and repeat sales.

Loyalty & Reward Points

Keep your customers coming back. Magento 2 supports loyalty points, referral programs, and special pricing tiers. Reward good customers and keep them engaged – all while delivering a smooth, branded experience.

Final Thoughts

Magento 2 is more than just a store platform – it’s a powerful toolkit for building exceptional shopping experiences. By leveraging these trending features, you’ll not only impress customers but also increase conversions and stay ahead of the competition in 2025 and beyond.

Frequently asked

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often.

Are these Magento 2 UI/UX features still current in 2026?

Most of them are, but two need updating. Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 reached general availability on 12 May 2026 with PHP 8.5 support and a support window running to roughly May 2029, so everything listed here runs on a current release. The two changes worth knowing: Adobe now positions Edge Delivery Services rather than PWA Studio as its lead storefront architecture, and the AI powered search and recommendation features are licensed to Adobe Commerce rather than shipped with Open Source. Both are covered in the answers below.

Do Live Search and Product Recommendations work on Magento Open Source?

No. Live Search and Product Recommendations are Adobe hosted SaaS services included with an Adobe Commerce or Adobe Commerce Cloud licence, not modules you can install on free Magento Open Source. This trips up a lot of teams who read a feature list and assume it applies to their build. Open Source stores get comparable capability from third party search and merchandising vendors such as Algolia, Klevu or Elasticsearch based extensions, each with its own licence cost and integration surface. Confirm which edition you are on before budgeting for AI search.

Is PWA Studio still the right way to build a Magento storefront?

It is still supported, but it is no longer where Adobe is investing. PWA Studio's last significant release was v14.5.0 in February 2025 and it now sits in maintenance, receiving compatibility fixes rather than major new features. Adobe's active investment has moved to Edge Delivery Services, its document authoring and edge rendering storefront. Meanwhile Hyva has become the popular pragmatic middle path for teams who want a fast Luma style frontend without a full decoupled rebuild. Pick based on team skills and roadmap, not on the framework's age.

How much does storefront speed actually affect revenue?

Enough to fund the work. Google and Deloitte's Milliseconds Make Millions study found that improving mobile site speed by just 0.1 seconds lifted retail conversion rates 8.4 percent and average order value 9.2 percent. Portent's analysis of e-commerce sessions found conversion rates drop an average of 4.42 percent for every additional second of load time in the first five seconds. On a Magento catalogue with heavy layered navigation and third party scripts, those tenths of a second are usually sitting in unoptimised images, blocking JavaScript and uncached category pages.

What Core Web Vitals targets should a Magento 2 store hit?

Google's thresholds are Largest Contentful Paint at or under 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint at or under 200 milliseconds, and Cumulative Layout Shift at or under 0.1, each measured at the 75th percentile of real visits. Interaction to Next Paint replaced First Input Delay in March 2024 and is the metric most Magento stores fail, because extension JavaScript blocks the main thread on filter and add to cart taps. Field data uses a 28 day rolling window, so a fix takes about a month to show fully in Search Console.

Can a marketing team really run Page Builder without developers?

For content, yes. Page Builder ships with Magento Open Source as well as Adobe Commerce and lets non technical staff assemble landing pages, banners, sliders and promotional blocks from drag and drop elements. Where teams still need development help is in defining the reusable content types, keeping the output within the design system, and stopping Page Builder pages from accumulating heavy inline styles and oversized images that damage Core Web Vitals. The practical model is developers build the blocks once, marketing composes pages from them thereafter.

How much revenue is a poor checkout actually costing?

Baymard Institute's ongoing research puts the average documented online shopping cart abandonment rate at 70.19 percent, aggregated across dozens of independent studies. Not all of that is recoverable, since a large share of shoppers were only browsing or comparing. The recoverable portion is the friction caused by the checkout itself, and that is where Magento's one page and guest checkout options matter. Fixing forced registration, hidden costs and a slow payment step usually returns more revenue per hour of work than any other UX project on a store.

What are the main reasons shoppers abandon a Magento checkout?

Baymard's research on shoppers who abandoned for reasons other than browsing found extra costs such as shipping, tax and fees were the single largest cause at 48 percent, followed by being forced to create an account at about 25 percent and delivery being too slow at about 24 percent. Every one of those is fixable in Magento without custom development: surface shipping estimates on the cart page, enable guest checkout, and show honest delivery dates from real carrier data rather than a generic promise.

Is a mega menu worth building for a large catalogue?

It is if your catalogue is deep rather than wide. A mega menu earns its keep when shoppers otherwise need three or more clicks to reach a buying decision, which is common on stores with hundreds of subcategories. The risk is that a badly built one ships large images and extra JavaScript on every page, hurting Interaction to Next Paint. Build it server rendered where possible, lazy load any promotional imagery inside it, and validate the structure with a card sort or search log review rather than internal opinion.

Does a richer customer account area actually drive repeat orders?

It drives repeat orders where reordering is a real behaviour, which is most true in B2B, consumables and spare parts. Order tracking, one click reorder, saved addresses and wishlists remove the friction from a purchase the customer has already decided to make. For B2B, requisition lists and quote history are the equivalent. If your customers typically buy once every few years, the account area is a service and trust feature rather than a revenue lever, and effort is better spent on acquisition and checkout.

How long does implementing these features take?

It depends entirely on which ones. Configuration level work such as enabling guest checkout, tuning one page checkout and setting up Page Builder blocks is usually days rather than weeks. A mega menu, a customised account area or a loyalty programme integration is typically a few weeks each including testing. A headless or Edge Delivery Services storefront is a project measured in months, not a feature toggle. Sequence them so the quick configuration wins ship first and fund the larger frontend work.

Which of these ten features should we do first?

Start with checkout and speed, because they act on revenue you are already generating. Fix hidden costs, guest checkout and the payment step, then measure Core Web Vitals on real field data and clear the biggest Interaction to Next Paint and Largest Contentful Paint blockers. Only after that does it make sense to invest in a new storefront architecture, AI search or loyalty. A faster, lower friction version of your current store is almost always cheaper and more certain than a rebuild that reintroduces the same problems.
