Speed and Core Web Vitals
LCP, INP and CLS from real-user field data where Google has it, then traced to the specific theme section or app responsible.
A senior developer opens your theme code, your app list, your checkout and your analytics, and writes down what is costing you sales, in the order it is costing you. You keep the report and can hand it to any team, including your own.
Free scanners report symptoms. They cannot tell you which of your apps injects the script that blocks rendering, or that your add-to-cart fails silently on one mobile browser. That gap is what the audit is for.
LCP, INP and CLS from real-user field data where Google has it, then traced to the specific theme section or app responsible.
Liquid, JavaScript and CSS reviewed for dead code, render-blocking assets, and customisations that will break on the next theme update.
Every installed app checked for what it loads, where, and whether anyone still uses it. Uninstalled apps often leave code behind.
Payment options US shoppers expect, shipping and tax display, discount logic, and Checkout Extensibility readiness on Shopify Plus.
Collection filters, product page, cart and mobile navigation reviewed against your own analytics, not a generic best-practice list.
Indexation, duplicate collection and product URLs, structured data, internal linking and the metadata your theme generates by default.
GA4, Meta and Google Ads events checked for double counting, missing purchases and consent handling, so the numbers you optimise against are real.
A WCAG 2.1 AA review of key templates. US retailers receive a steady stream of ADA demand letters, and the common triggers are easy to find.
A sample of the checks behind each area. The findings column is what we see most often on US stores, not a promise about yours.
| Area | Checks | Common finding |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Field CWV, hero image weight, font loading, third-party script order | A review or upsell app loading on every page, including pages where it does nothing |
| Theme | Theme version, customised sections, unused snippets, JS errors in console | A heavily edited theme two major versions behind, which is why updates keep getting postponed |
| Apps | App inventory, leftover code, overlapping functions, monthly spend | Two or three apps doing the same job, one of them already uninstalled but still loading |
| Checkout | Wallets, BNPL, shipping estimates, tax display, discount stacking | Shipping cost first revealed at checkout, the most common reason for a late abandon |
| Conversion | Mobile nav, filters, PDP content, cart drawer, search | Size and fit information buried below the fold on mobile product pages |
| SEO | Canonicals, collection-scoped product URLs, schema, sitemap, redirects | Product schema missing price or availability, so rich results never show |
| Tracking | GA4 purchase events, pixel dedupe, consent mode, UTMs on email | Purchases counted twice or not at all, so ad spend is optimised against bad data |
| Accessibility | Contrast, alt text, keyboard navigation, focus states, form labels | Image-only buttons and carousels that a screen reader cannot use |
Every finding has four parts: what is wrong, the evidence (a screenshot, a trace, a line of code), what it probably costs you, and what fixing it involves. Findings are ranked, so the first page of the report is the work that matters most.
We walk you through it on a call in your hours. After that, the report is yours. Give it to your in-house developer, your current agency, or to us. There is no obligation to buy the fixes from the team that wrote the report, and we write it on that assumption.
Need the fixes too? Our Shopify CRO and speed optimisation teams work straight from the same findings. If the audit points to a rebuild or a move to Plus, see our Shopify Plus agency page for US brands.

A Shopify audit is a structured review of a store's speed, theme code, installed apps, checkout, conversion path, SEO, tracking and accessibility, carried out by a developer rather than an automated scanner, that ends in a ranked list of fixes. Free tools report symptoms such as a slow LCP score or a missing meta tag. An audit traces each symptom to its cause, for example the specific app that injects a render-blocking script or the theme customisation that breaks add-to-cart on one mobile browser. The output is a written report showing what is wrong, the evidence, what it probably costs you, and what fixing it involves.
It covers eight areas: speed and Core Web Vitals, theme code, app bloat, checkout, the conversion path, SEO, analytics and tracking, and accessibility. Speed is checked with real-user field data where Google has it, then traced to the responsible section or app. Theme code is read for dead snippets and fragile customisations. Every app is checked for what it loads and whether anyone still uses it. Checkout is reviewed for the payment, shipping and tax display US shoppers expect. Tracking is checked for missing or double-counted purchases, and key templates are reviewed against WCAG 2.1 AA to surface common ADA risks.
The written report is usually delivered in 5 to 7 business days after we receive access to the store, its analytics and any ad or tag manager accounts involved. Larger Shopify Plus stores with many markets, heavy customisation or a long app list can take longer, and we tell you that when we confirm scope, before the work starts. After delivery we walk you through the findings on a call scheduled in US hours, so your team can ask questions about the evidence behind each item. The fastest audits are the ones where access is ready on day one, so we send the access checklist immediately.
Because US online retailers receive a steady stream of ADA demand letters and lawsuits, and the most common triggers are easy to find and cheap to fix. Typical issues are images and buttons with no text alternative, carousels that trap keyboard users, low colour contrast, and form fields without labels. We review key templates against WCAG 2.1 AA, the standard most US settlements reference, and list each issue with the criterion it fails and how to fix it. This is a practical risk review, not legal advice or a certification, and a store with serious exposure should also take advice from counsel.
Usually yes, because speed is only one of eight areas and often not the one costing the most. Stores with good PageSpeed scores still lose sales to shipping costs revealed late at checkout, size information buried on mobile product pages, broken purchase tracking that misleads ad spend, or product schema that stops rich results appearing. A fast store can also be fragile, with a heavily edited theme two versions behind that nobody dares update. The audit ranks findings by likely revenue impact, so if speed genuinely is fine, the report will say so and point you at what matters more.
No. The report is yours, and it is written to be used by any competent team, including your in-house developer or your current agency. Each finding includes the evidence and a description of the fix, so nobody has to take our word for anything or come back to us to interpret it. If you would like us to do the work, our Shopify CRO, speed and development teams can start straight from the same findings. Many clients split it: their own team takes the quick fixes and we handle the theme or checkout work that needs a specialist.
We need collaborator access to the Shopify admin, view access to Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console, and ideally read access to Google Tag Manager and your ad platforms so we can check tracking properly. With collaborator access you approve exactly which permissions we get, so no staff passwords are shared. We do not publish or edit anything on the live theme during an audit. Where we need to test a change, we duplicate the theme and work on the unpublished copy. Access can be removed the day the report is delivered.
Yes, and Plus stores get extra checks. On Plus we review Checkout Extensibility readiness and any remaining checkout.liquid customisations, Shopify Functions and scripts used for discounts and shipping rules, Shopify Markets configuration for international selling, and B2B features if you use them. We also look at Flow automations and Launchpad events, which quietly break more often than teams realise. The rest of the audit is the same as for any store: speed, theme, apps, conversion, SEO, tracking and accessibility. If the audit suggests a larger rebuild, our Shopify Plus agency page for US brands explains how we approach that work.
A free speed test gives you a score for one page load in a lab. It cannot read your Liquid code, tell which of your apps is responsible for a slow script, notice that add-to-cart fails on one mobile browser, or check whether your GA4 purchase events are firing twice. Run three free scanners and you will get three different scores and no instructions. The audit uses those tools as a starting point, then a developer opens the code, the app list, the checkout and your analytics to find the cause of each problem and rank it by what it is likely costing you in sales.
A senior developer from the same team that builds and maintains Shopify stores for our clients, not a sales analyst running a template. Raulji Technologies has worked in ecommerce since 2014, has delivered 150+ projects, and publishes 37 case studies, including Shopify builds such as Future Roots and Adhyatmaa. Our team is based in India, in Vadodara and Bengaluru, and overlaps with US working hours for the walkthrough call and any follow-up questions. We are not a US company and we do not claim to be. We would rather show you the work and let the report stand on its evidence.
Fill in the form on this page with your name, work email and, ideally, your store URL and a note about what prompted the audit, such as falling conversion, a slow mobile site or a replatform decision. A senior developer replies within one business day to confirm scope, the access we need and the delivery date. Once access is in place, the written report follows in 5 to 7 business days, and we schedule a walkthrough call during your working hours. There is no obligation beyond the audit itself, and the report is yours to use with whichever team you choose.
