Magento Stores Built To Survive The Next Upgrade, Not Just The Launch

Most Magento problems trace back to how the store was built: core hacks, tangled extensions and themes nobody documented. We develop Magento 2 storefronts the disciplined way, with custom themes and modules that follow Magento coding standards, zero core modifications, and a performance budget checked before go-live. On Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce, B2C or B2B, single store or fifty store views.

Who Needs This

Eight Signs Your Store Needs A Proper Magento Build

Magento website development means designing and engineering a Magento 2 storefront around your catalog, pricing and operations, rather than bending your business around a template. These are the eight situations that usually bring merchants to us.

Upgrades Keep Breaking Things

Every Magento version bump takes the site down for days because past developers modified core files or vendor code.

Template Theme Hit Its Limit

The purchased theme looked fine at launch, but every layout change now needs a workaround stacked on a workaround.

Storefront Is Slow

Product and category pages take seconds to render because nobody tuned the theme, caching or database along the way.

Extensions Fight Each Other

Dozens of third-party extensions from different vendors overlap, conflict and slow the admin to a crawl.

B2B Requirements Outgrew The Store

Company accounts, negotiated pricing, requisition lists and credit terms need real B2B architecture, not plugins bolted on.

Multiple Brands, One Backend

You need several storefronts, currencies or regions running from one Magento install without duplicating operations.

Nobody Knows How It Works

The original agency is gone, the code is undocumented, and every change feels like defusing something.

Starting Magento From Scratch

You have chosen Magento for its catalog depth and want the first build done properly instead of rebuilt in two years.

Build Quality

What Separates An Engineered Build From A Patched One

Two Magento stores can look identical on launch day. The difference shows up at the first upgrade, the first traffic spike and the first developer handover.

What We Build

Nine Kinds Of Magento Development Work We Take On

From a complete storefront build to a single stubborn module, this is the work our Magento team does every week.

Custom Theme Development

Challenge: template themes carry code for features you will never use and fight every design change.
Solution: a custom theme built on a clean parent, with only the layout and components your store needs.
Outcome: a storefront that matches your brand and stays fast because nothing unnecessary ships with it.

Custom Module Development

Challenge: your pricing, shipping or workflow logic does not exist in any marketplace extension.
Solution: purpose-built Magento 2 modules using plugins, observers and service contracts, never core edits.
Outcome: business logic that survives every Magento upgrade untouched.

B2B Storefront Development

Challenge: wholesale buyers need company accounts, negotiated pricing, requisition lists and approval flows.
Solution: B2B builds on Adobe Commerce B2B features or custom company-account modules on Open Source.
Outcome: buyers self-serve online instead of emailing your sales team spreadsheets.

B2C Storefront Development

Challenge: large catalogs need layered navigation, merchandising and promotions that actually convert.
Solution: category architecture, attribute design and promotion rules built around how customers shop.
Outcome: shoppers find products in fewer clicks and checkout without friction.

Multi-Store & Multi-Website Builds

Challenge: several brands, regions or currencies need their own storefronts without separate platforms.
Solution: Magento’s website, store and store view hierarchy designed deliberately, with shared or split catalogs.
Outcome: every brand gets its own domain, pricing and language from one admin.

PWA & Hyvä Storefronts

Challenge: Magento’s default Luma frontend is heavy, and mobile shoppers feel every kilobyte.
Solution: a Hyvä theme or PWA Studio storefront over Magento’s GraphQL API, chosen by fit, not fashion.
Outcome: dramatically lighter pages and Core Web Vitals scores Luma cannot reach.

Upgrade-Safe Refactoring

Challenge: an existing store full of core hacks blocks you from patching or upgrading Magento at all.
Solution: move hacked logic into proper modules and preferences, one verified piece at a time.
Outcome: a store that can finally take security patches and version upgrades on schedule.

Extension Integration & Cleanup

Challenge: overlapping third-party extensions conflict, duplicate features and drag performance down.
Solution: audit what each extension actually does, remove the redundant ones, patch conflicts at source.
Outcome: fewer moving parts, faster admin, and upgrades that stop being a lottery.

Performance Engineering

Challenge: Magento can be fast, but only when caching, indexing and the frontend are tuned together.
Solution: Varnish full-page cache, Redis, OpenSearch and frontend optimization built into the project, not bolted on.
Outcome: category and product pages that hold up under sale-day traffic. Need this on an existing store? See our Magento speed optimization service.

How It Fits Together

The Layers Of A Magento Build Done Properly

Every store we build passes through the same layered architecture, so any Magento developer can pick it up years later and know exactly where everything lives.

1

Composer-Managed Codebase

Magento core, extensions and our modules declared as dependencies, never edited in place.

2

Custom Theme Layer

Your storefront design as a child theme, overriding only what needs to change.

3

Custom Module Layer

Business logic in isolated Magento 2 modules using plugins, observers and service contracts.

4

Integration Layer

ERP, CRM, PIM and payment gateways connected through APIs and message queues.

5

Performance Layer

Varnish full-page cache, Redis sessions and OpenSearch catalog search, tuned per store.

6

Automated Testing

Checkout, pricing and critical flows covered by automated tests that run before every deploy.

7

CI/CD Pipeline

Git-based deployments through staging to production, with rollback always available.

8

Staging Environment

Every change, upgrade and patch rehearsed on staging before it touches the live store.

9

Production & Monitoring

Uptime, error and performance monitoring watching the store after go-live.

Quick Answers

Straight Answers, No Sales Pitch

Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce?

Open Source covers most B2C stores well. Adobe Commerce earns its licence when you genuinely need built-in B2B features, staging content, or Adobe’s support. We tell you which fits before you spend anything.

How long does a Magento build take?

A focused storefront on an existing catalog usually takes 8 to 12 weeks. Builds with heavy custom modules, B2B logic or multi-store setups typically run 3 to 6 months. The discovery phase gives you a real number, not a guess.

Can you take over an existing Magento store?

Yes. We start with a code audit so both sides know exactly what we are inheriting, then fix the riskiest problems first. You get a written report either way, even if you never hire us for the build.

AI In Development

AI In Magento Website Development

The slowest parts of a Magento project are rarely the parts you see: understanding what fifty extensions actually do, predicting what an upgrade will break, and testing thousands of catalog and checkout combinations. This is where we apply AI, with an engineer verifying every result.

AI-Assisted Extension Analysis

Before a build or takeover, we run AI-assisted static analysis across every installed extension to map which classes they override, where they collide, and which ones duplicate each other, then an engineer confirms what to keep, replace or remove.

Upgrade Impact Prediction

Ahead of a Magento version upgrade, AI-assisted diffing compares your custom modules and theme overrides against the new core so we know which preferences and plugins will break before the upgrade runs, not after.

Generated Test Coverage

We use AI to generate test cases across price rules, tax configurations and checkout paths that manual QA would never cover exhaustively, which matters most on B2B stores with tiered and negotiated pricing.

Built By Our AI Team

These analysis and testing tools come from our own AI development services team, covering AI agents, automation and generative AI work, applied inside the Magento project itself rather than sold as a separate product.

Why Raulji Technologies

We Architect Before We Build, And Document As We Go

Magento projects fail in predictable ways: no architecture, no code review, no documentation, no plan for the next upgrade. Our process exists to remove exactly those failure modes.

Discovery Workshops

Structured sessions with your team to understand catalog, pricing and operations before any design or code exists.

Architecture Planning

A written technical design for modules, attribute sets and store hierarchy, approved before development starts.

Code Reviews

Every module and theme change is peer-reviewed against Magento coding standards before it merges.

QA Testing

Automated and manual testing on staging, including checkout, pricing rules and every payment path.

Security Discipline

Security patches applied on schedule and builds structured so patching never becomes a project of its own.

Performance Budgets

Core Web Vitals targets agreed at the start and verified before go-live, not discovered by customers.

Documentation

Architecture decisions, module behavior and admin workflows written down and handed over, not kept in one head.

Long-Term Support

Hypercare after launch, then ongoing Magento support that keeps upgrades and patches on schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions About Magento Website Development

What does Magento website development include?

It covers everything needed to take a Magento 2 store from plan to production: discovery and technical architecture, custom theme development, custom module development for your pricing and workflow logic, ERP, CRM and payment integrations, performance tuning with Varnish, Redis and OpenSearch, QA testing and launch. On existing stores it can also mean refactoring, extension cleanup or a B2B build on top of what you already run.

How much does a Magento website cost to build?

It depends on catalog complexity, how much custom logic you need and which integrations are involved. A focused storefront build sits at the lower end, while B2B builds with ERP integration and multi-store setups cost several times more. We scope from a written discovery brief, so the quote reflects your actual requirements rather than a template price. Adobe Commerce licensing, if you need it, is a separate cost paid to Adobe.

How long does it take to build a Magento website?

A focused Magento 2 storefront on an existing catalog usually takes 8 to 12 weeks from discovery to launch. Projects with heavy custom modules, B2B pricing logic, ERP integration or multi-store architecture typically run 3 to 6 months. The discovery phase produces a stage-by-stage timeline before development starts.

Should I build on Magento Open Source or Adobe Commerce?

Magento Open Source covers most B2C stores well, including large catalogs and multi-store setups. Adobe Commerce earns its licence fee when you genuinely need its built-in B2B suite (company accounts, shared catalogs, quotes), content staging or Adobe support. We assess this during discovery and will tell you honestly if Open Source is enough, because for many merchants it is.

What does upgrade-safe Magento development actually mean?

It means no Magento core or vendor files are ever edited directly. All custom logic lives in isolated modules that use plugins, observers and service contracts, and the whole codebase is managed through Composer. When a new Magento version or security patch ships, it can be applied and rehearsed on staging without your customizations breaking or being overwritten.

Can you build a B2B store on Magento?

Yes. B2B is one of Magento's genuine strengths. On Adobe Commerce we build on the native B2B suite: company accounts, shared catalogs with negotiated pricing, requisition lists, quotes and approval workflows. On Magento Open Source we build the specific B2B features you need as custom modules, which often costs less than the Commerce licence if your requirements are narrow.

Do you build Hyva or PWA storefronts for Magento?

Yes. For most new builds we recommend Hyva over the default Luma frontend because it ships dramatically less JavaScript and reaches Core Web Vitals scores Luma cannot. PWA Studio over Magento's GraphQL API makes sense for app-like experiences or when a separate frontend team owns the storefront. We recommend by fit, and will say so if Luma is fine for your case.

Can you take over a Magento store another agency built?

Yes, this is a large part of our work. We start with a code audit that documents core modifications, extension conflicts and security patch status, so both sides know exactly what we are inheriting. Then we fix the riskiest issues first, usually anything blocking security patches, and refactor the rest in planned stages while the store keeps trading.

Will my Magento website be fast?

It will be measured, which matters more. We agree a Core Web Vitals budget at the start of the project and verify it before go-live, with Varnish full-page caching, Redis, OpenSearch and a lean frontend doing the work. Magento is not slow by nature; it is slow when themes, extensions and caching are never tuned together.

Can one Magento installation run multiple stores?

Yes. Magento's website, store and store view hierarchy is built for exactly this: several brands, countries, currencies or languages running from one admin and one codebase, with shared or separate catalogs per storefront. Designing that hierarchy correctly at the start is critical, because restructuring it after launch is disruptive.

Do you integrate Magento with ERP and CRM systems?

Yes. Most stores we build sync products, inventory, orders and customers with an ERP, CRM or PIM through Magento's REST and GraphQL APIs, message queues for reliability, and scheduled reconciliation so the two systems never quietly drift apart. Integrations are specified in the architecture document and tested with real data flows before launch.

What happens after my Magento website launches?

Every build includes 30 days of hypercare: daily monitoring, priority fixes and performance checks while real traffic hits the store. After that, most clients move to an ongoing support plan covering security patches, version upgrades, extension updates and a monthly health check, so the store never drifts back into an unpatchable state.
